Haywards Heath & District Angling Society Massive 7lb Eel landed by club member... The captor was Rowland Smith, who during a match held on their Balcombe Lake on Sunday 30th June, was swingtipping with a feeder about 60m out using a 6lb breaking strain line straight through to the hook. The bait was a hair rigged worm and he had great difficulty persuading the fish into his landing net. This must be one of the biggest eels landed anywhere in Sussex for a long time.

Stedham Angling Club host annual Richard Morgan Memorial Match in support of Macmillan

Stedham Angling Club are inviting anglers of all levels to take part in the annual Richard Morgan memorial fishing match on Sunday 28th July 2013 at the Chichester Canal in Hunston. The draw will take place at 8am, with the fishing commencing at 10am and ending at 3pm with the weigh in to follow. Entry tickets are £15 each, with the proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support, Midhurst. The trophy was set up over 40 years ago by the parents of Richard Morgan, a former member of the Club, who tragically died of cancer at the age of 21 and the club has been proud to host the match every year in his memory.

Stedham Angling Club itself is a small and friendly club which welcomes anglers of all capabilities. It must be said that the aim of the club remains the same as the day it was formed - to give its members the opportunity of enjoying their chosen sport in beautiful countryside which, to quote the club’s motto, is ‘Nulli Secundus’ (second to none). For more information, visit the Club’s website - For a fun day of fishing in support of this fantastic cause, please call Geoff or Lyn Oram on 01730 817016 and book your place.

A charity fishing match organised by Parker Building Supplies of Hastings raised over £1000 for St Michaels Hospice and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The invitation match was fished at Clive Vale reservoir curtesy of Clive Vale Angling Club on Saturday 27th July  in hot sunny conditions punctuated by a very heavy down pour in the afternoon. The hot weather did not seem to effect the fish too much as fish were being caught regularly especially small carp off the surface.

The match was won by A Hill with a carp of 7lb 14oz; with Mark Heap a very close second with one of 7lb 12oz and John Huggins third with one of 7lb 4oz. Best Specimen was a nice crucian carp of 1lb 14oz for Mark Freeman.  The organisers would like to thank the generous main sponsor Fakro Windows, Nick Marshall and Clive Vale AC for the venue and Hastings Angling Centre for donating bait. Hopefully a second larger match will be staged next year.
