  • Paul Stevens wins tough Pagham qualifier in style

On a hot and sunny day the second heat of the All Sussex Shore Championship was won by Worthing based angler Paul Stevens. He landed Dogfish and Bass amassing 198 points.

The venue is the furthest west in Sussex that the qualifiers will be held. Competitors came from all along the coast as far away as Bexhill and Pevensey.

The fishing was hard work and although a wide variety of fish species were landed, including Bream, Dogfish, Bass, Flounder and Plaice, very few anglers caught more than 1 fish.

Mick Snelling came in second with 164 points and, Kevin Morgan from Pevensey weighed in with 5 flatfish.

Along with Paul Stevens six other competitors qualified for the October final: Kevin Morgan, Mick Snelling, Tony Geal, Budge Booker, Craig Edwards, James O’Carroll. They join the 10 who qualified at Pevensey in March
