  • Young angler Connor Bonwick wins Brighton Pollock Competition with massive 17lb fish

    More than 17 Boats with approximately 100 anglers from along the south coast took part in 4th Brighton Pollock Competition sponsored by Daiwa and in aid of the RNLI.

    The winner was 15 year old Connor Bonwick with a cracking 17lb 10oz fish – in all there were 16 double figure fish landed – 2 by Junior anglers.

    The Event is becoming an institution on the South Coast. Every spring Charter boats from all along the South Coast come join in and fish for Pollack in the numerous wrecks littering the channel.

    The weather, which has been appalling in the previous week, decided to smile on the anglers and this made the whole event much more pleasurable for all. In all 11 Brighton charter boats were busy getting ready alongside a number from nearby Newhaven Shoreham and Eastbourne and there were quite a few private boats `in the competitions as well.

    The fishing was hard work but most boats did land at least one decent fish, the best boat on the day being Sea Breeze skippered by Terry Lee. The competition was sponsored by Daiwa, filmed by Tight Lines who presented the \trophy on behalf of Sky sports and £1100 was raised for the RNLI. For more go to
